Last Post

Alex here, for the last time. This year not only in Language Arts, but the whole year together, has been great. Between the field trips, the inside jokes and the classes, I had an awesome time. I am completely at lost for words just thinking about leaving this great school. I have been here eighth years and its crazy because Tuesday will end it all. I am going to miss EVERYONE, including all of the teachers and students and classmates and everyone because this has been an amazing journey to go on and I'm glad that everyone was here with me on it. I'm going to remember everyone and all of the great experiences we have been through. Including:

-Jonathan's ball being run over :-)
-the first day of first grade
-the awkward school dances
-the "playground" we never got
-first day of fifth grade
-starting the Fourth Grade Move
-bischoff's after school dances, school plays and last days of school
-soccer with our pole goals
-kicking the ball through Zack's legs (nutmeg)!!!!!!!
-all of our inside jokes
-all of the younger kids
-the bake sales (whatever happened to those???)
-the concoctions the boys used to make in 1/2 grade
-the potato chips we used to open by sitting on them
-the field trips
-Frost Valley and the water balloon fight in the rain
-the "trailors" annexes
-our huge math textbooks
-our awesome school shows that we always end up finishing right before
-the crazy things we used to do with Mr. George (Kung Pao, Math Mountain etc...)
- the Montreal/Quebec City trip
-the Philly Trip
-mini courses (and in 7th grade where I was in the same room ALL DAY!!!)
-the math songs :-)
-pizza day
-the crazy lunches
-the black out
-ALL of the TEACHERS
-the eighth graders

And I'm probably missing like everything, but these are just a few things that I remember and love and will NEVER forget. I'm hoping the eighth graders will never forget me and the school and all of the great experiences we shared together. I hope the seventh graders will do awesome next year as well as the rest of the school in the new school! (Of course you guys are moving right when we graduate but whatever!!!!!) Have a great summer and

Open Ended Responses

2. Q. If you were to act this play out on stage, which character would you choose to be and why?

A. My favorite character is Hermia and I would choose to be her. I liked how in the story she was both at times very happy and in love and then another time confused and worried. I think that would be fun to act out because I wouldn't just be the same person and the same mood or personality the whole time. I also think I would be a good Hermia because I have had many situations like the one Hermia had with Helena were Helena was mad at Hermia and Hermia didn't know why. I think I would be able to relate to that very easily.

4. Q. Who was your least favorite character? Why?

A. My least favorite character of the play was Egeus. At times I didn't like Bottom because he was pretty stuck up and conceited, but I realized that that was just his personality. But it wasn't Egeus' personality that annoyed me, it was what he thought. He wanted his daughter, Hermia, to marry Demetrius while it was very clear that she loved Lysander. I understand that some parents want to pick who their children marry, and it was very popular in that time period, but I think it was totally crazy that Egeus wanted his own daughter to be killed if she didn't marry Demetrius. Now luckily Theseus thought that was crazy too, so he decided another consequence, but I think that that was just too extreme.

7. Q. Write a brief scene (this does not have to be in paragraph form) that features something that Shakespeare purposefully left out of the play.

A.
Oberon- So Puck, go get that flower immediately.
Puck- I could go around the world in forty minutes.
Oberon- Well then go do so.
(Oberon leaves. Puck flying around the forest)
Puck- Well hello young fairy.
Fairy- Hello.
Puck- I am looking for a cliff which has mysterious purple flowers. Would you know where I could find it.
Fairy- Yes indeed. I am going that way; you can come with me.
(Fairy and Puck fly around forest to a cliff)
Fairy- Here it is. May I ask your name?
Puck- I am Robin Goodfellow, but friends call me Puck.
Fairy- I have heard of you. Don't you work for Oberon the King Fairy?
Puck- Yes I do.
Fairy- So are you doing something for him now?
Puck- Yes I am.
Fariy- Well what is it? Oh please tell me. I only dream about this stuff. I promise I won't tell.
Puck- I am just getting a special magical flower that has a special love juice and if you put it on someone's eyes they will fall in love with the first living thing they see.
Fairy- Oh my gosh! That is so interesting.
Puck- Oh, but please don't tell anyone.
Fairy- I won't, but only if you give me one petal.
Puck- What! That is crazy! You truly are a mischivious fairy, now aren't you? Fine you can have one.
(Puck picks up flower and gives one leaf to Fairy)
What is your name?
Fairy- My name is Flowerdill.
Puck- Okay Flowerdill, now don't tell anyone, because if you do I will have to come and get you.
Flowerdill- Yes sir. Thank you very much.
(Flowerdill leaves)
Puck- Oh look at the time, I am going to be late. Oberon is going kill me.
(Puck leaves to go to Oberon)

A Midsummer Night's Dream Act 5

In the beginning of Act 5, Hippolyta mentions to Theseus that the lovers are saying some strange things and everything they are saying all connect up with each other's words. Theseus just says they are lunatics. Philostrate comes up to Theseus and tells him the different plays that could perform. Theseus decides on a play with Pyramus and Thisbe, even though Philostrate says it is really bad and worthless to watch. Hippolyta is hesitant to watch the play, but Theseus insist on seeing the men's work. Quince says the prologue, but the grammar is all wrong and when all of the others speak, they mention what they are; whether it is lion or a wall. During the play, Theseus said that the wall should curse back at Pyramus, and then Bottom gets out of character and says to him why that doesn't happen. Once the play is over, the audience didn't think they did very well, but they were entertained and they applauded there effort. At the end, Robin comes out and tells the Midsummer Night's Dream audience that this wall all a dream and we were part of the whole thing.
