A Midsummer Night's Dream Act 5

In the beginning of Act 5, Hippolyta mentions to Theseus that the lovers are saying some strange things and everything they are saying all connect up with each other's words. Theseus just says they are lunatics. Philostrate comes up to Theseus and tells him the different plays that could perform. Theseus decides on a play with Pyramus and Thisbe, even though Philostrate says it is really bad and worthless to watch. Hippolyta is hesitant to watch the play, but Theseus insist on seeing the men's work. Quince says the prologue, but the grammar is all wrong and when all of the others speak, they mention what they are; whether it is lion or a wall. During the play, Theseus said that the wall should curse back at Pyramus, and then Bottom gets out of character and says to him why that doesn't happen. Once the play is over, the audience didn't think they did very well, but they were entertained and they applauded there effort. At the end, Robin comes out and tells the Midsummer Night's Dream audience that this wall all a dream and we were part of the whole thing.

A Midsummer Night's Dream Act 4

In the beginning of Act 4 scene 1, Titania is telling her fairies to do whatever her love, Bottom, would like. After the fairies do what they are told, Titania and Bottom fall asleep. Then, Oberon puts the juice from the second flower on Titania's eyes because the flower juice changes you back to what you were before. Titania wakes up and sees Oberon, and she wonders why she ever liked him. Easily, Oberon gets Titania to give the boy to him. Then, Theseus arrives with Hippolyta and Egeus. Theseus remembers that today is the day where Hermia must decide if she is going to marry Demetrius. He then sees the four people lying down and recognizes that it is Demetrius, Lysander, Hermia and Helena. They wake up. They all think they were in a dream together. Theseus then finds out that Demetrius doesn't like Hermia anymore, he loves Helena. Theseus thinks it would be stupid for a couple to get married if they don't really love each other. He over rules Egeus' request, and tells they two couples that they will be getting married too that day. The four leave. Bottom wakes up from a very wierd dream.

In Act 4 scene 2, the common men are wondering where Bottom is. They then say that it would be a terrible play if Bottom didn't come, because he is the heart of the play and is a great actor. Then Bottom appears and says he can't tell them something, but then he insists on telling them and then decides not to tell them about his dream. He then tells them that they will be performing in front of the Duke and that everybody must be ready.

A Midsummer Night's Dream Act 3

In the first scene of Act 3, the characters are Bottom, Quince, Snout, Starveling, Robin, Flute, Titania, Peaseblossom, Cobweb, Moth, and Mustardseed. First, the actors were practicing in the forest. In the play, someone is killed but they didn't want to scare the ladies so Bottom decides to say a prologue that states that they aren't actually killing anyone. They have other problems that they solve too. Then, Robin comes and sees the group practicing. He thinks Bottom is doing a terrible job so he decides to turn Bottom's head into a donkey's head. All of the other actors run away thinking Bottom is a monster. Next, Titania wakes up and sees Bottom. She falls madly in love with him. Then, Titania's groupies comes and Titania tells them to be kind and polite to him. Then, Bottom makes fun of Titania's groupies names, not caring about their feelings.

The characters in the second scene in Act 3 are Oberon, Robin, Demetrius, Hermia, Lysander, and Helena. In the beginning, Robin tells Oberon that Titania is in love with a monster. Robin also learns that he put the love juice on the wrong Athenian man. They hide while watching Hermia and Demetrius. Hermia thinks Demetrius killed Lysander, and that is why Lysander wasn't there when Hermia woke up. Hermia doesn't believe Demetrius when he tells her that he didn't kill Lysander. Hermia leaves the forest. Robin thinks it is fate that all of the different people like each other, but Oberon wants it to be fixed so he tells Robin to get Helena and bring her back while he puts juice on Demetrius' eyes so he will fall in love with her. Oberon and Robin hide and watch.

Lysander is following Helena saying that he loves her but Helena thinks he is kidding and tells him to stop making fun of her. Lysander says he doesn't love Hermia anymore, he actually hates her and he only loves Helena. Demetrius then wakes up and tells Helena that he loves her. Helena thinks this is a game and they are both teaming up to make her life miserable. Then the men are arguing about who loves Helena more. Hermia then comes and asks Lysander why he left her. Lysander tells her that he loves Helena now. Then, Helena thinks Hermia is fooling around with the men too. Hermia then thinks that Lysander fell in love with Helena because she is taller than her. Helena still thinks this whole thing is a game. They all leave and Oberon tells Robin to separate Lysander from Demetrius. Finally, without them knowing they all fall asleep by each other in a part of a forest and Robin puts the flower juice on Lysander's eyes so he will fall in love with Hermia again.

A Midsummer Night's Dream Act 2

In Act 2 scene 1, the characters are Robin, Fairy, Oberon, Titania, Demetrius, and Helena. First, Robin and Fairy are talking about Oberon and Titania and how they are fighting. Both Oberon and Titania come in on opposite sides of the forest and start to discuss what they want to do with the Prince. Then Titania says she won't be with him or his bed. Titania and her fairies leave, leaving Oberon and Robin. Oberon tells Robin to get a special flower that Cupid has aimed an arrow into. Oberon decides to use the magical flower's juice to put on Titania's eyelids while she is sleeping so when she wakes up she will fall in love with the first living creature she sees. As Robin gets the flower, Oberon sees Helena following Demetrius and Demetrius telling her to get away from him. When Robin comes back, Oberon takes the flower and then gives a petal to Robin. He tells Robin to put some juice on Demetrius' eyelids so he will fall in love with Helena.

In Act 2 scene 2, the characters are Titania, First Fairy, Second Fairy, Oberon, Lysander, Hermia, Robin, Helena, and Demetrius. In the beginning, Titania has the First Fairy and Second Fairy sing to her so she can fall asleep. When she falls asleep, the fairies leave. Then, Oberon puts the juice on Titania's eyelids. He leaves and Lysander and Hermia come by. They fall asleep. Robin comes in and sees an Athenian man and puts the juice on his eyelids. He ends up putting it on Lysander's eyes instead of Demetrius. Helena comes in chasing Demetrius and Demetrius leaves her standing in the forest. Lysander wakes up and sees Helena. He falls in love with her, but since Helena is used to people hating her, she thinks he is fooling around and being sarcastic. She leaves and then Lysander goes into the forest trying to find her. Hermia wakes up from a bad dream and wonders where Lysander is.

A Midsummer NIght's Dream

In the first act of A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare, a lot happens. In the first scene, we meet Theseus, Hippolyta, Philostrate, Egeus, Hermia, Lysander, and Demetrius. We first find out that Theseus and Hippolyta are getting married. Then we find out that Egeus wants Hermia, his daughter, to marry Demetrius, while she disagrees with him completely and is in love with Lysander. Egeus feels that he has complete control over her so he can make her marry Demetrius. He also suggests to Theseus that she should be executed if she does not cooperate with him and marry Demetrius. Theseus thinks that is to harsh so he suggests that she will have to become a nun if she doesn't marry him. He tells her that she has until his wedding, which is four days away, to think about her decision.

Everyone leaves except Lysander and Hermia. They both decide to meet in the forest the next day at midnight and run away together and get married. Helena comes by them and the two tell her of their plan. Once they leave, Helena says that she will tell Demetrius of the two's plan and that he will be so grateful that he will fall in love with her. Although this is just a little far sketched, Helena thinks it will work.

In the second scene of the first act a group of men are together talking about who is what for a play they are performing at Theseus and Hippolyta's wedding. The group of men are Quince, Snug, Bottom, Flute, Snout, and Starvling. During the meeting, Quince is suppose to be leading the meeting because he is directing the play, but Bottom thinks he is so good at everything that he starts bossing everyone around. While Quince is telling everyone their parts, Bottom keeps suggesting that he should play all of the parts. Quince says that Bottom is playing the main male part, Pyramus and that he should only play that one, insisting that that is the best one for him. Once Quince gives out all the parts, they all decide to meet the next day in the forest at night to practice.
